List of Sainik Schools in India

As the name signifies, the Sainik Schools in India provides education to prepare the students to understand the value of serving the military in the country. The Sainik Schools Society is in charge of the complete management of the schools spread all over the country. The concept for specialized military schools was first visualized and realized by V.K. Krishna Menon in the year 1961. He was then the Defense Minster of the Country. The main reason for the need for such Sainik Schools in India was because firstly it was felt that regional and class balance was required in the Indian Military Service, especially in the higher cadre of the Indian Military Officers. Secondly it was to prepare students for future military service and make the admission process into the National Defense Academy or the NDA simpler for them. Today the popularity of these schools has resulted in the establishment of nearly 25 such schools in the country.

Activities encourages at the Sainik Schools in India

The Sainik Schools in India encourages a number of activities and also motivates all the children to take part in most of them. Adventurous and non-adventurous sporting activities are part of the curriculum. Each student is given personal attention and their passions and aptitude is given prime importance. The different Hobby Clubs ensure that the hobbies of each student is developed and given training to ensure that their talents are nurtured in order to help the student realize it to the fullest.

Management, Syllabus, Curriculum and Language Studies:

The Sainik Schools in India follows the CBSE or the Central Board of Secondary Education and even though the medium of instruction is English, the language is not a pre-requisite for admission as students belonging to the vernacular schools too can be facilitated here. In most schools the admission is started at STD VI and the students is able to complete the entire school education up to the Higher Secondary at STD XII

Objectives Planned for the Future by the Sainik Schools in India

One of the main aims of the Sainik Schools Society is to integrate technology into their curriculum and add to the learning of the student in all the Sainik Schools in India. The government is taking steps to ensure that there absolute accessibility to these schools and is in the process of setting them up in areas that are left bereft of such high quality and affordable education for the benefit of the rural children in the country enabling those whose desire it is to join the military as well as the naval Academy.
