The education system in India is considered one of the best in the world and that is why when students need to go in for admission into the world renowned universities of Europe and America, the students from India are readily accepted. This high quality of education is made possible because of the setting up of different educational boards in India. There are basically two educational boards in India and one of them is the Central Board of Secondary Education, while the other is the State Boards Schools in India. The basic difference between the two is that while the former is managed by the NCERT or the National Council for Educational Research and Training which is on a national level, the latter is managed by the various states of India and each state has its own policies formulated regarding the management of the State Board Schools in India.

The State Boards Schools in India Managed by Each State:

In State Boards Schools in India, the curriculum, the syllabus, the admission process and the appointment of teachers, the academic calendar which includes examination dates and holidays, and every other requirement is managed by the Education Department of the State Government. Since the different states of India, numbering twenty-eight, are different from each other in custom, in language and in governance, the policies related to the school and education too differ from each other.

The Three Language System in State Boards Schools in India:

When it comes to choosing a Board to study under, students need to understand a few factors that include, the vernacular language that the students desires to study and that which is taught in the State Boards Schools in India. This is because each State Board Schools in India follows the official language of that particular state and if the students are comfortable studying that language, only then it is advisable to seek admission there. For example a student from North India, say Rajasthan, would definitely find it difficult to study Tamil in a State Board School in Tamil Nadu, unless the school offers a common language like Hindi as language study subject apart from Hindi being taught as a Second language in the state. The State Board Schools in India follow the three language system which comprise of English as the main language if the medium of instruction is English, Hindi the national language and the official language of the state. If the medium of instruction is the local language of the state, the students need to study Hindi or any other prescribed language and English as the other language.

Hence if seeking admission in State Board Schools in India it is advised that students opt for schools in their own state so that the language problem does not hinder the progress and the development of education for the child.
